SOPA, PIPA, and Your Blog

You've no doubt heard about or been affected by the two pieces of legislation that could potentially change the way you blog.

 So what is SOPA anyway?

 

 

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) is designed to tackle the sale of pirated movies, music and other products. However, opponents fear the legislation is so broad that innocent sites could potentially be shut down.

How do you feel about the legislation? Did you darken your site in solidarity with Wikipedia and craigslist? Will you sign the petition? If passed, do you think it will affect your blogging experience?

I'm a freelance writer. If SOPA and PIPA pass, I'll have to increase my business insurance and switch from a being a sole proprietor to an LLC.
